Men Don't Lie

SYNOPSIS

Men Don’t Lie is a comedy about tangled love triangles and culture clashes with the struggling artist life in the East End of London colliding with the grand halls and chateaux’s of the upper class. Smart humour and romance shine a light on the quirks of human nature that bond us while poking fun at the cultural differences and insecurities that keep us from achieving true intimacy.
Zena, our heroine, is a once brilliant physics student and closet trust fund baby running from her past and looking for hope and love wherever she can find it. She finds hope in Bob: an American expatriate, self proclaimed artist, poet, and humanitarian. Bob is a vibrant personality, a dishwasher in denial, leading a motley crew of misfits in an attempt to remake the classic French film “Les Enfants du Paradis” in the streets of London. Zena’s infatuation with Bob is firmly rooted in the belief that Bob’s ambitions and morals are pure and noble. Our characters come together to try and save one of Bob’s loyal followers but along their journey it seems they are just as focused on saving themselves.
While Zena attempts to show her charity to impress Bob at a luxury hotel party, she attracts the attention of Jonny, a once great pianist who now finds his refuge at the bar. Jonny’s pursuit of her affection and Zena’s zealous optimism uplifts Jonny in ways he could never imagine. As Zena continues to long for Bob she realizes she has given Jonny the hope she is so desperately searching for.
Zena travels through her past and present leading Bob and Jonny on a cat and mouse game while trying to avoid the social trappings of her stiff privileged background.

Men Don’t Lie reflects the dreamy world of Bob’s “Les Enfants du Paradis,” a world where three lost souls are willing to take chances to have something and someone special in their lives, making it a worthy tribute to that cinematic French masterpiece.
